After a few weeks of experimentation, it seems the Friday morning meditation session is getting enough interest to make it officially a class at the studio. This is great news.
We begin promptly at 6:30. Come just a bit early if you are brand new to the studio, so you can get assistance orienting yourself and figuring out how to set up a comfortable seat for yourself--on blankets, a bolster, a chair; in the middle of the room or where you can rest your back on a wall--as you like. Also, as needed, there will be an explanation of the basic technique of sitting. It's very simple, so don't worry about that part.
There will be about twenty minutes of silent practice, and afterward perhaps a little discussion or a small reading from some relevant and wonderful teacher. Nothing big, nothing difficult. You are allowed to scratch your nose if you have to.
We will be finished in enough time for the room to be clear for the asana class that starts at 7:30am. You are not obligated to attend that asana class.
We are asking a minimum $5 donation to cover the cost of the studio space, but if you do not have that money, you are still welcome, no question.
