And now for the nice quote:
"A human being is a part of a whole, called by us “universe”, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
-Albert Einstein

So even this man, regularly acknowledged as one of the most brilliant and far-seeing scientific and mathematical minds anywhere, had an understanding so close to the yogis’ that we could remove his name from this statement and the average student of Eastern philosophy might attribute the thoughts expressed to any of a number of great yogis and practitioners. Pretty much every sentence or fragment of a sentence here, could be found presented as a Patanjali might express it, if he were inclined to paraphrase himself.
If anyone has any more quotations that link the scientific world to the world of yoga, please include the references in comments. I’m interested.
